Dato Mohamad Kamarudin Hassan


Independent and Non-Executive Chairman, had been serving the Government agencies for more than 34 years before he retired in August 2013. Dato Kamarudin had served various divisions of the Government Ministries including the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, Ministry of International Trade and Industri (MITI), Malaysian Embassy, The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation. Throughout his tenure in the Government, Dato Kamarudin had been involved in relation to the national income accounts and macro-economic frameworks, mergers and acquisitions exercises of corporations, listing of companies on the stock exchange, corporate restructurings, development of industry policies and market-access negotiations. As the Deputy CEO of MATRADE from January 2006 until August 2013, Dato Kamarudin’s main responsibilities were for the promotion of Malaysia’s exports of products and services whereby he had established good networking relationships with Government officials and business communities (exporters and importers) locally and abroad. Dato Kamarudin was appointed as a consultant to the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, on matters pertaining to capacity-building of foreign institutions and human resource, particularly in the area of trade and investment promotion.
